Alex Barton - James Bond Casino Night
The James Bond Casino Night is a fun fundraising evening which will be taking place at Chauncy School in Ware on Saturday 18th October 2014.
This will be a fab evening with music, casino, lots of great prizes with a very subsidised bar and superb three course meal, all for a great cause.
The event is in recognition of two fantastic teenagers Alex Barton and Emily Weightman who have had a couple of tough years. Emily was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in January 2013 and Alex was diagnosed with a brain tumour in May 2013. They both met in Oklahoma in 2013 where they were sent by the NHS to receive a 3 month course of proton beam therapy, a special type of radiation which is not yet available here in the UK. Each of them have had their battles since returning home but continue to do so with great bravery, grace and smiles.
Funds raised at the Bond event will be shared between funds set up specifically for Alex and Emily as, unfortunately, caring for children with cancer can be very costly. Alex and Emily have also asked that some money is donated to and shared between charities chosen by themselves - Teens Unite, a local charity based in Broxbourne which provides support to teenagers suffering with cancer and The Children's Trust, the UK's leading charity for children with brain injury.
Please visit the James Bond Casino Night for Alex & Emily 18 October 2014 Facebook page for further information.

Another landmark in our relentless and joyous march towards greatness. In 2013 we celebrated 1020 students choosing to study at Chauncy School. Ofsted described us as "an inspiring and exciting place to be", where students have set new GCSE and A Level records, where student behaviour is "outstanding" and where parental support is overwhelming. We had 421 students when I started at Chauncy in 1998 and now we have 1000 happy successful students working with a brilliant staff. We are now full in years 8-11 and we have attracted so many 6th formers from other schools whilst losing none of ours, that it is clear that we are on the right track and must now get even better in providing the sort of inclusive education our community relishes.
